Chillin' at a cafe on Italy's Amalfi Coast
My name is Wendy. I live in Roanoke, Va. (far from any beach, yes), and in Jan. of this year I quit my full-time job and started freelancing for a living. Mostly I write — some days much better than others. I have a couple of steady freelance gigs at the moment; hopefully they will last for a while.
My partner, Sarah, and I have been together for more than four years now. We are working on Project Baby, but currently our family consists of our 14-year-old dog Huntzie (she really IS the cutest dog in the world, by the way) and a cat who adopted us. For weeks we thought Luna was a girl, only to learn from the vet that HE had already been neutered. So, he’s a gender-confused cat. He doesn’t care as long as he gets food and a place to sleep.
Most days I’m working in my home office, which is in a sunroom loaded with natural light (very important). I am often wearing flip-flops and listening to Kenny Chesney, hence the name of the blog. (If you know Kenny, you’ll know what I’m talking about.) Other days I’m at a local coffee shop (or bar) working on my projects, which range from search engine writing to movie reviews.
Likes: The Caribbean, riding my bike, taking long walks on warm days, good friends, good conversation and good beer.
Dislikes: Pork chops, dressing up, aging.
Of course I could go into a long history about me, but I’m sure bits and pieces will come through in my blog posts. Why ruin a good surprise.
